【語学講座】シャン語(ミャンマー・タイ)初級Ⅱ(CEFR PreA1~A1)
【言語の紹介】
The Shan language is the native language of the Shan people, is mostly spoken in Shan State, Myanmar (Burma). Shan state is the largest state in Myanmar and with many ethnic groups. It borders Yunnan (China) to the north, Laos to the east, Thailand (Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son Provinces) to the south. Shan is called in Burmese. In Burmese, the term 'Shan' [ရှမ်း /ɕaæª/] refers to people whose language belongs to Tai language family. To those people in Southern Myanmar especially Mon State and Tanintharyi region, the term 'Shan' covers the Thai as well. Shan people call themselves Tai [တႆး /taiæ/] , and the spoken language is commonly called Kwam Tai [ၵႂၢမ်းတႆး /kwaæm taiæ/] in Shan. Thai people call Shan ไทใหญ่ (Thai-yai). Shan has own centuries old literature, art and history. Shan language is a member of the Tai-Kadai language family and is related to Thai, Laos. It is also spoken in Northern Thailand, in Southern Yunnan, in border area of Laos. There are estimates 5 million Shan speakers in Myanmar, about one million in Thailand. Mostly speak in local as well as the language of their trading partners. In Myanmar, Shan language speaking ethnic group is the second most populous ethnic group. Shan language is tonal language. Shan tones do not correspond exactly to Thai tones. Shan word order is subject-verb-object. Shan writing is a Brahmic abugida. The Shan alphabet is characterized by the circular letter forms of the Mon-Burmese script. It is written left to right.
【講座の目的】
- To imporve the communication skills of learners to using Shan expressions related to daily life
- To familiarize learners with some aspects of Shan language, culture and customs
【講座内容】
This course is designed for people who want to learn the Shan language with was intended for those who have completed Beginner I (シャン語(ミャンマー・タイ)初級II (CEFR PreA1)) and Shan language learners who have some basic speaking skills and / or reading and writing skills and want to improve their everyday conversation skills and fluency. Like all language courses, it covers the core skills: pronunciation, listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing. The first part of each lesson covers on vocabulary and sentence structure. A vocabulary list with Shan spelling, transliteration with phonetic alphabets, and definitions in English appears at the beginning of each chapter. The second part of each lesson focues on basic reading and writing in the Shan language. The class will study common facts about Shan language, customs, and values in Shan culture through discussion and watching cultural activity movies. By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
Listening and Speaking:
- Explain likes and dislikes, feeling and emotions.
- Describe daily activities, family, and hometown.
- Ask and answer simple questions about familiar topics.
- Give simple opinions on daily activities.
Reading and Writing:
- Answer simple questions about descriptions of people, places, and things.
- Identify key ideas in short simple messages on social networks.
- Identify and use common vocabulary related to daily activities.
- Write short narratives, message, and conversation using simple sentence.
- Write about plans, and opinions.
