【講座内容】
This is an Elementary level course.
As India emerges as one of the world's fastest-growing economies, its importance to Japan as a strategic and economic partner is rapidly increasing. This 12-week course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of the complex, diverse, and dynamic nation behind the headlines.
This course is for anyone with an interest in contemporary India, and understands basic level of English:
Students of South Asia
Business professionals collaborating with Indian teams
Frequent travellers who want to deepen their cultural understanding and basics of Indian English
We will move beyond stereotypes to explore the real structures of Indian society: its colonial history, its political and economic systems, its core institutions like family and caste, and its profound cultural and religious diversity.
A Unique Linguistic Approach
What makes this course unique is its integrated focus on Indian English. We will go far beyond the stereotypical "accent" often shown in comedy. You will learn why Indian English is spoken the way it is.
The language was not simply adopted from the British; it was adapted by Indians. Its unique vocabulary and sentence structures are a living mirror of Indian history, culture, and society. In this course, we will use the language itself as a key to unlock a deeper understanding of the society.

【重点を置く学習内容】
By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the key historical and political foundations of modern India. Appreciate the deep cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity of the nation. Analyze the role of core social institutions like family, caste, and urbanization. Recognize and, more importantly, understand the cultural context behind common Indian English words, phrases, and grammar. Navigate social and business interactions in India with greater confidence and cultural sensitivity.
